Websites

The Young Librarian - Website of resources geared to young and new librarians. Resources currently include a weblog, articles by and for new and young librarians, a form I developed for keeping track of the job search process, a listing of which states require certification for public librarians and links to those requirements where available and an archive of polls.

UIUC Veterinary Medicine Library - As part of my graduate assistantship, I managed this website. During my tenure, the site was redesigned by an in-house graphic designer, and I assisted the head librarian in determining how the main page links should be laid out in order to optimize a user's time in navigating it.

Publishing Credits

Punch Up Your Portfolio! - article on putting together print and electronic portfolios written for the LISCareer.com July 2004 issue.

Work Projects

Readers' Advisory portfolio - Electronic portfolio I created to document some of my readers' advisory skills.

Resource Guide for Technology Skills - This guide had not been updated since its creation in 1999. As a special project, I revised the layout from a single page with internal anchors to a multi-page site separated by topic to reduce the amount of scrolling a user needed to do. I also updated the bibliographies and links for each section and created new sections as needed.

Class Projects

Earthquake webliography - A short webliography prepared as an assignment for LIS 412LE - Science Reference Spring 2003 semester.

Historical Studies in Library and Information Science - This site was developed for LIS 450LW - Web Design for Organizations as the final project. This was done in conjunction with two other classmates. We were responsible for project management, development of code and the graphic design of the site using HTML and Cascading Style Sheets. The site was developed for Susan E. Searing, the UIUC Library and Information Science Librarian.
